Cardiff · Mathematical Biology
Four chapters. Four levels. Build a model, follow an outbreak, chase a wave and find a pattern.
Based on Thomas E. Woolley’s course notes. Choose any chapter to revise.
12 questions per session. Complete a level with at least 9 correct. All levels stay available.
Chapter 1 introduces the aim: use mathematical models to understand biological systems, test assumptions and predict behaviour. Analytical reasoning helps us interpret simulations.
Runner: steer with ← and →, then jump low barriers with ↑ or Space. Questions pause the run. You have three lives; a wrong answer, collision or out-of-order step costs one. Read the feedback before continuing.
Study: work through 12 questions without a timer or life penalty. Both modes show explanations and sections to revisit. Completed levels and your best accuracy are saved on this device.
A completion badge means 9 or more correct answers in a full 12-question session. It is a revision milestone. Use written problems to practise longer derivations.
Course notes: Thomas E. Woolley, based on notes by Eamonn A. Gaffney. Game engine adapted from Oliver Maclaren’s Gradient Surfers under the MIT licence. Content and source notes.
